Things to think about when booking an airport transfer service?

So, you have booked your holiday to your favourite destination and are now thinking about booking your airport transfer service but what are the things you should think about before booking?

1.How much luggage you will have?

This is a big one and one that often trips people up when booking a car service to and from the airport. When making the booking the private hire operator will need to know how much luggage you will be taking (including hand luggage) and if you are likely to be returning with more luggage! Especially if you planning a shopping trip to somewhere such as New York or visiting family. Also think about any extras you are taking if you are travelling with small children such as pushchairs, additional car seats and travel cots etc

2. Will you be taking car seats with you for babies or small children?

If your children require car seats this is something that the private hire company you are booking with will need to know. They will want your children’s safety to be paramount. Some companies will provide car seats and others will request that if taking your own that you fit them.

3. How many people?

It is really important that you inform your private hire company about the number of people travelling and also updating them if that number changes.

4. Make sure you are able to contact the company and or driver that will be taking and collecting you

Having a way to communicate when you are away is really reassuring for both you and the private hire company that you book with. If your flight is delayed or your plans change you will need to let the person you have booked with know, preferably via telephone rather than email so you know that you have spoken with someone rather than left wondering if an email has been open and read.

5.Have all the information to hand when booking

Save time when booking your journey by having all the information to hand that the company will ask for such as:

Which terminal you are flying from if you are flying from somewhere such as Gatwick, Heathrow or Manchester for example.

Your outbound and inbound flight numbers

The time you want collecting and where from? Are there multiple pickups if you are travelling with others? We always recommend that you leave a time buffer to allow for traffic, bad weather etc

The time your inbound flight is expected to land and will there be the same amount of passengers returning
